THE RUSSIAN PLAY
and
MEXICO CITY

Two plays by Hannah Moscovitch

THE RUSSIAN PLAY: Lurking through the doomed men and rotten ideals of Stalinist Russia, The Russian Play is a bleak, bittersweet and darkly ironic ode to the dangerous joys of love.

MEXICO CITY: Set amidst the chaos and noise of Mexico's capital in the 1960s, Mexico City is a short satiric romance that explores the intersection between tourism-as-voyeurism and the battle of the sexes.

"Artful in construction, intelligent and subtly humorous in content, and excellently performed, the plays will delight" -The Halifax Herald

Since it's original production in 2007, Memoirs has run to sold out audiances in Ottawa and Montreal. The show has also evolved and grown to an even funnier show. Original star Jamie Foster is joined by a stellar cast of comic actors including Bryan Kelly, Bill Houston, Scott McGrath, Matthew Fedorowicz, Larry Colcy, Kathleen Driscoll and Tara Webster.

"David Blue's celebratory new play, by turns wry and witty, is further evidence that the closet itself has simply exploded..." - Review Vancouver

SAVAGE PARADE

Savage Parade portrays a tumultuous period in the life of 19th century French poet Paul Verlaine. It reveals Verlain's conflicting loves: his wife, Mathilde Mauté, and his protege, Arthur Rimbaud. Savage Parade combines traditional theatre elements with the recital stage. It incorporates French art songs by traditional composers that used Verlaine's evocative poetry as the lyrics. In addition, Canadian composer Chris Sivak has written a new work specifically for Savage Parade. All songs are performed in French, with English surtitles.
